Selwa Press collects, preserves and publishes photographs and accounts that
depict Saudi Arabia in the mid-1930s - before there was oil. Just as
Americans read and look at pictures and movies of the Depression era to
better understand themselves, these few artifacts of a distant Arabia reveal
the roots of a country in dire straits, moments before it will change completely. For Americans and Arabs alike, "these were the days of our
grandparents." Our books and images are a rare glimpse into a way of life
that vanished long ago and into a dignity of spirit that continues to this day.
